Because I doubt we will make it till midnight…sharing a little NYE poem to ring in the New Year!! To all who read this, wherever you are…praying your New Year is filled with hope, laughter, and people you love. ![]()
’Twas the night before New Year, and all through the house,
Not a creature was stirring—not even a mouse.
The teal blanket lay rumpled, so soft and deep,
Where a ginger-hued kitty was curled fast asleep.
Paws tucked in just so, in a whiskered doze,
Dreams padded softly amid the couch throws.
By the hearth glowed the fire with a steady, warm blaze,
Crackling low like the dawning of sunny new days.
There, stretched on a bed with a fleece snowy-white,
A faithful pup friend drifted into the night.
One ear at attention, one eye at rest,
Guarding embers and her humans with love in her chest.
The logs in their cradle breathed all aflicker,
Time slowed to a pause—no need to move quicker.
No reason for hurry, no clocks keeping score,
Just comfort and calm on the eve of “what’s more.”
For the New Year stands waiting with hopes yet to come,
But tonight asks for nothing—no tasks to be done.
Only warmth in the moment, the grace to be still,
As hearts make their wishes the new year might fill.
So here’s to the quiet, the paws and the fire,
To home in its hush, just what we desire.
And I whispered, with peace, as midnight grew near,
“Happy dreams to you all—and a peaceful New Year.”
